Prednisolone belongs to the family of medications called corticosteroids. It provides complete relief for various inflamed areas of the body. The medication is used to treat number of different conditions like inflammation (swelling), severe allergies, adrenal issues, arthritis, asthma, blood or bone marrow problems, eye or vision issues, lupus, skin conditions, kidney problems, ulcerative colitis and flare-ups of multiple sclerosis. The medication is a corticosteroid (cortisone-like medicine or steroid). It works on the immune system to help relieve swelling, redness, itching and various allergic reactions.

Various steroid medications can weaken immune system, making it easier to get an infection. Thus, avoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Avoid live vaccine while using this medication. Prednisone sometimes is used with antibiotics to treat a certain type of pneumonia in patients with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

Acne, clumsiness, dizziness, facial flushing, feeling of a whirling motion, general body discomfort, headache, increased appetite, increased sweating, nausea, nervousness, sleeplessness and upset stomach are some side effects with this medicine.
