Asitomycin 500 is composed out of Azithromycin. The main active ingredient in the medicine treats certain bacterial infections like bronchitis, pneumonia, sexually transmitted diseases (STD), and infections of ears, lungs, sinuses, skin, throat, and reproductive organs. Azithromycin also treats or prevent disseminated Mycobacterium Avium Complex (MAC) infection, which is a type of lung infection that usually affects people with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The medicine falls under the class of medications called macrolide antibiotics. It does its working by restricting the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics do not kill viruses that cause colds, flu, or other infections.

Take Asitomycin 500 once a day or as prescribed by your doctor. The tablets can be consumed with or without food. Intake of plenty of fluids is suggested while you are treated with this medicine. Do not stop consumption of medicine without consulting doctor, even if your symptoms have healed. Sudden stopping of this may causes a relapse in the condition, allowing the bacteria to become immune to the antibiotic.

Some common and mild side effects like stomach upset, diarrhea/loose stools, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain may occur.
