Proscare 5mg tablets are generally prescribed for treating male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia). The medicine does it by increasing hair growth and preventing further hair loss from all areas of the scalp, including the front. The medication can reverse balding in men with mild to moderate hair loss but does not restore hair that has been lost for a long time. Proscare 5mg tablets are not suggested for treating hair loss in women.

Proscare 5mg tablets contain Finesteride 5mg that is mainly used to treat male pattern hair loss. Tablets specifically inhibits the action of the enzyme type II 5a-reductase that converts male hormone testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that is found in hair follicles and is the androgen, which is responsible for hair loss. DHT in men causes hair follicles in the scalp to shrink, producing smaller and thinner hairs that eventually do not emerge from the follicle. The tablets reverse the balding process as it blocks the buildup of DHT in the hair follicles of the scalp, further allowing the hair to grow normally.

Take Proscare 5mg tablets with a glass of water once a day with or without food, continue the dosage for up to 6 months or longer, as recommended by your doctor. Treatment with this medication may continue for 3 months or longer. It can take several months for new hair to grow and if you stop consuming the tablets during this time, hair loss may resume. In case, you miss any dose of the tablets, consume it as soon as you remember. If the time for your next dose is near, skip the missed dose and move to your next dose. Avoid consuming double doses. Store Proscare 5mg tablets in their blister packs and keep them in cool and dry place, below 30ยบC. Store the medicine away from direct sunlight.
